Use Cases of Core Drilling

The core drilling process commences with marking the designated hole location using chalk or a laser pointer. The core bit is then securely mounted onto the coring machine’s spindle. To minimise overheating and facilitate dust removal, the drilling area is dampened with water or a lubricant. The core drill is activated, gradually cutting through the material at a controlled speed and depth.

Once the desired depth is reached, the core bit is retracted. The drilled hole is thoroughly cleaned and inspected for any imperfections or damage. In cases where the hole is particularly large or critical, it may be reinforced with steel rebar or similar materials to maintain structural integrity.

Benefits of Core Drilling

Cost-Effective

Core drilling operates at a high speed, so the job gets done quicker than alternative methods, making it a more cost-effective solution.

Smooth Hole with Minimal Cracking and Chipping

The hollow core drill bit collects the material as it cuts the hole, thus preventing it from cracking and chipping the wall or surface.

Efficient Waste Removal

Core drilling collects dust from stone, asphalt, brickwork, concrete, masonry and sandstone in the hollow drill bit, which makes minimal mess and easy to remove.

Precise Hole

As a company of skilled operators, we carefully control the drill bit rotation speed and feed rate to ensure we create a precise and even hole.

Minimum Vibration

A core drill rotates as opposed to hammering through the material and has vibration-dampening technology to minimise vibrations.

Varying Hole Size

BC Diamond Drilling & Sawing Ltd has heavily invested in its plant, so we can create holes of 12 mm up to 1 metre in diameter.
