Step Cut Out for WeFix London

For WeFix London, a company chaired by Charlie Mullins, the founder of Plimlico Plumbers, a concrete step and stair landing needed to be removed inside a working internal stairwell. The surrounding finishes, doors and walls had to stay protected, and the area had to stay clean and safe throughout.

1. Protection first. Before any cutting started, our team laid Antinox floor protection boards across the route and taped the joints. Plywood hoarding protected the adjoining walls. Cones and safety barriers kept the work area clearly separated.

2. Marking out. The cut lines were marked on the landing and steps so the structure could be removed in controlled sections.

3. Diamond sawing. Our operatives cut the concrete with diamond saws using water suppression. A wet vacuum extracted the slurry as they worked, which kept dust down and the floor protection clear.

4. Breaking out and removal. With the step cut into sections, the sawn concrete was broken out with a Hilti breaker. The rubble was cleared into tubs and removed from the building.

5. Clean handover. The floor was swept and left ready for the next trade.

The concrete step was removed with no damage to the surrounding areas. The site stayed tidy and safe, with minimal dust and slurry.
