Stitch drilling involves drilling overlapping core holes along the line of the proposed opening. It is a slower method than wall sawing over a clear, accessible straight line, but it is highly effective in confined locations and on complex shapes.
The key trade-off is programme against access. Where there is room to install a track-mounted wall saw, sawing may be quicker. Where there is limited space, no suitable wall face or an awkward opening detail, stitch drilling can prevent the need for disruptive breaking-out work. The chosen method should reflect the structure, the location and how the removed concrete will be safely handled.
Controlled demolition in sensitive areas
Diamond drilling is not demolition in the conventional sense, but it plays an essential role in controlled demolition. It can separate a section of concrete from the surrounding structure, establish lifting points or define a removal line before saw cutting and mechanical demolition begin.

Water suppression and slurry control also need proper planning.
